Kit

For my kit, I use a camera similar to a GoPro, from IceFox. Personally, I think it is a great alternative to something like a GoPro Hero 4 because it can do all the jazz a GoPro can, but for less. Almost all of my videos are recorded using this, and so far, is has served me very well; I would strongly recommend it.

Now for a new addition, going forward I will be using the Snaptain SP650 for my drone shots. This is a great little drone that is easy to control (after some practice), lightweight and compact for transport. For the price, it's a bargain.

Software

For the editing side of the spectrum, I have chosen to use DaVinci Resolve. I find this program to fit the needs of someone like me, who would rather not pay for Adobe Premiere, and this video editor does the job really well. It's easy to get into, and good challenge to master. I haven't mastered it quite yet, since I am still fairly new to the scene, but I can happily say that it is a very intuitive editor and I recommend this to everyone who wants to start making videos. You'll pick it up in no time with DaVinci.

Techniques

As for how I record, I will usually come up with something in my head. Creativity is key for this part, so I can't really comment on exactly how I do it, but I can share other things - like having the correct accessories for said creativity. This accessory pack for the IceFox line of cameras is essential for any and every shot you can think of.

Another thing I like to keep in mind are transitions - spicing up the video with quick and smooth transitions are always a welcome surprise. I'm always looking for an opportunity to do one of these because, if executed well, they make a great watch.
